I started climbing and going on mountain hikes with friends at the age of sixteen. When I was nineteen, I was at the north face of the Eiger for the first time – in the middle of winter. At the age of 28, I finally decided to exchange my previous occupation as a metal worker with leading tours as a mountain guide. Ever since, I have been exploring the whole of Switzerland and various areas abroad as a professional mountain guide. It’s not just the Swiss mountains which fascinate me, the peaks of Alaska, Africa, Nepal and New Zealand are just as much places where I could enjoy making my hobby my profession. In 2004, I lead a smaller expedition in Nepal onto the Pumori (7161 m), a very interesting and worthwhile experience. When I’m not out and about exploring the world, I live in Sattel in Central Switzerland together with my wife. Apart from my profession as a mountain guide, I am also a passionate photographer, an occupation which occasionally leads to an exhibition.
