Discovering climbing at the age of nine, his enthusiasm was prompted at once. Thanks to a J&S group, he had the chance of getting to know the different facets of alpinism one after the other together with a few good friends.

At the age of only 15, he and a friend of the same managed to traverse Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau on their own. A dual citizen in Switzerland and Germany, he was a member of the DAV expedition squad, a six-strong national squad for young talented alpinists, from 2007 to 2009.

In the mean time, being a mountain guide has become his main occupation and mountaineering his raison d’être. Next to many great tours in the Alps, he was lucky enough to discover throughout the course of several expeditions mountain chains such as the Himalayas, the Karakorum, the Pamir, the Andes and the Caucasus, and countries such as Kenya and Tanzania as well as their culture and inhabitants.

Next to mountaineering and his long-standing partner, his third great passion is aviation. When he’s not out and about in the mountains with guests, Julian can be found piloting a helicopter or being in the air with a parachute in the gorgeous Bernese Oberland.
