Food on the Trip

General Information

There are some general rules in order to prevent illness while travelling. Please note that your body may require some time to get used to the local food and spices and to activate its immune system and produce protective antibodies.

One of the basic rules is: Cook it, peel it, boil it or forget it! Be careful only to eat cooked food and drink boiled water from clean sources. Look out for bottles, which still have their original bottle caps on them to be sure the water has not been tampered with. Vegetables and fruit that can be peeled, are generally safe to eat. Abstain from ice cubes, ice cream, salads and fruit juices, since they are often contaminated due to unsafe storage.

Furthermore, be sure to keep an eye on your daily fluid intake and always adapt it regarding your current travel situation (heat, physical exertion, etc.).

Food on the Trip

Preparation begins at home: if you are plnning to join a big expedition, try to get a little tummy beforehand. Like that, you don't have to eat too much unfamiliar food at the beginning, which helps a lot to stay healthy. Another good side effect is, that you won't move to fast at the beginning, reducing the risk of bad acclimatisation due to ascending too fast. After a few days the tummy's melted away and you'll be feeling splendid!

Kobler & Partner always try to offer a wide variety of food and drinks. However, to satisfy personal cravings, we recommend taking some nibbles (fruit & nur bars, dried meats, etc.) with you. Additionally, we always try to update our equipment. We were the first organisers to provide a soda machine, an oven and comortable chairs for the base camp to our guests.
