Ski Crossing in South Georgia

Leitung: Christoph Höbenreich, Mountain guide

Join our exclusive expedition to South Georgia and experience the nature and history of this island, which was the scene of one of the biggest seafaring dramas of all time. Disaster struck Shackleton’s expedition team, when their ship, the Endurance, was trapped in pack ice in 1915 and slowly crushed, before the shore parties could be landed. In the end, the crew was able to escape, after they have been living ten month on the floating ice already. In April 1916, Shackleton and 5 of his men set off in a small boat, eventually rescuing their team when reaching a whaling station on South Georgia, crossing 1300km of ocean and trekking across the entire island.

  • Polar adventure following Shackleton’s footsteps on the remote island of South Georgia.

  • This expedition/trip has not yet been organised by K&P. Reconnaissance through expedition or oder tour guide.
