Kamet

07. September – 13. October 2013 / 37 days

Leitung: offen

At dawn, the sun shining on the summit area of Kamet gives the whole mountain a deep orange glow. The colour is so intense that the Tibetans maned this mountain «Kang-Med» (Burning Mountain). Kamet is situated at on the border between India and Tibet. The first ascent was made in 1931 by a British expedition team – at that time, this was the altitude record in mountaineering!

  • Kamet is a remote mountain, only recently made accessible for foreign expedition teams. Only one expedition is allowed per ascent route.
  • Measuring 7756m, it is the third highest mountain in India. Ideal to prepare yourself for a 8000m-peak!
  • Nice journe to the mountain along river Ganges, passing holy sites of pilgrimage on the way.
  • Moderate technical difficulties with some interesting climbing sections.
  • Kobler & Partner were among the first agencies to organise expeditions to Kamet in 2009 – benefit from our vast knowledge!
  • Quality Bonus: 1 local high-altitude porter between 4 participants, up-to-date weather forecast.
  • This expedition/trip has not yet been organised by K&P. Reconnaissance through expedition or oder tour guide.
