Steep spur high above Concordia Square Expedition experience required
K2

10. June – 08. August 2013 / 60 days

K2 is «only» the second-highest mountain on earth. This fact, however, doesn’t lessen his attraction: the huge sugar-loaf mountain with its clear lines, ruler over the confusing world of glaciers of the Karakorum range, is said to be the «mountain of mountains», the most beautiful and most challenging 8000m peak. When on 31 July 1954 Achille Compagnoni and Lino Lacedelli summitted K2 at 6 p.m., a milestone in Italian mountaineering was set. We will follow their route over the Abruzzi Spur which is named after the legendary Duke of the Abruzzi.

  • Mountain of mountains: K2’s fantastic clear-cut pyramid shape amazes every mountaineer.
  • The Abruzzi Ridge is probably the hardest normal route on a 8000m peak.
  • We will have time enough to climb the 2nd highest mountain in the world.
  • Quality bonus: high-altitude porters from Pakistan and Nepal (1 porter per participant), up-to-date weather forecast.
  • Kari Kobler hat has already twice organised this expedition. The second time was most successful, as 13 out of 24 participants made it to the summit. As Kari himself didn’t make it (yet), maybe this time he’ll be more lucky? This will be the last K2 expedition organised by Kobler & Partner.
  • Expedition experience necessary and/or mountain guide.
