Seldomly-visited seven-thousander in Nepal
Himlung Himal

26. April – 26. May 2013 / 31 days

Himlung Himal (7126m) is located notheast of the giant Annapurna range near the Tibetan border and thus, also lies on the metereological divide of Nepal and Tibet. Remote villages, a fascinating culture and mountains that are almost unknown are typical for this region. Cleared for climbing in 1992, Himlung is still not visited frequently, eventhough the ascent route of this seven-thousander is technically easy and very interesting.

  • An aestethically pleasing ascent through snow and ice, far from traditional expedition destinations.
  • After the first successful ascent made by the Japanese in 1992, the second attempt to climb Himlung Himal was made ten years later by a French expedition team.
  • The inbound hike through the valley along Phu River, the villages influenced by the Tibetan culture and the pristine beauty of the landscape offer a very unique experience.
  • Contrary to other expeditions, that try to clim Himlung Himal from mid October onwards, during the strong jet streams, we chose a time frame with more moderate winds.
  • Quality bonus: 1 local high porter per 5 participants, up-to-date weather forecast.
