Black Mountain
Makalu

26. August – 14. October 2012 / 50 days

Fr. 12,800 / € 10,240 with 11 People

Leitung: Mischu Wirth, Mountain guide

Makalu is a beautiful and stunning mountain. For quite some time, Makalu was thought to be the highest mountain in the world, since he appears to be slightly bigger than Mt. Everest when seen from Darjeeling, i.e. from southeast. For this reason, the French, in 1954, even abandoned their plans to climb Mt. Everest! After a failed 1st attempt, the French expedition team was able to reach the summit one year later, in 1955.

  • The ascent of the «Black Mountain» is one of the most attractive ventures in the Himalaya.
  • The objective risks are rather small for an eight-thousander and the difficulty of the ascent is technically moderate.
  • Thanks to his remoteness, Makalu offers real «expedition atmosphere» combined with a superb walk-in.
  • The journey from the semi-tropical rainforest to the eternal snow.
  • We have many years of experience on this mountain.
  • For Kari, Makalu and K2 are two of the most interesting Himalaya mountains due to their varied ascent route and the beautiful walk-in.
  • Quality bonus: 1 local high altitude porter per 4 participants, up-to-date weather forecast.
